It’s that time of year again! It seems like we just finished putting the final touches on a not so speedy car last year and already my second oldest son was figuring out his new design for this year. Last year, the car wasn’t exactly the first down the track. We decided to go with the “cool” factor of making a camouflage Hummer. Just like the real thing, speed was not its’ strong suite. This year we went with more of a sports car design and really didn’t have any hopes for a winner. One of the things we have done over the years to make the car look cool is to buy sticker paper and then find good images on the internet. Last year, the front grill and lights were done that way. This year, the flames and a few other details were images that we borrowed from the internet. Our expectations weren’t high, but a bronze medal made a boy quite proud and thrilled to have a fast car. A little powdered graphite helped the wheels spin their fastest.
The Boy Scouts is a great organization that gives boys opportunities to serve and do things that they may not otherwise have the chance to do. If you are looking for an extra curricular activity for your boy, I have found Scouts to be an awesome experience. We have a number of good troops in Lincoln that are very active. It is fun to see the boys learn and grow and achieve their goals. Congratulations to our newest Eagle Scout, Will Solari. He worked hard to make it happen. Good job Will!
