In the past 10 years, Placer County crime rates have decreased. According to the Placer County Economic and Demographic Profile, property crimes in the county are lower than the rest of the Sacramento Region, the Bay Area, and the State of California as a whole. Violent crimes in Placer County have been about half of the other areas rates. In a presentation to the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce recently, Rocklin Police Chief Ron Lawrence announced that the city’s crime rate had dipped to its lowest level in the past decade. Lawrence attributed this achievement to two things – the hard working men and woman of the Rocklin Police Department and the law abiding citizens of Rocklin who care about their community and collaborate with the police to reduce crime, remove blight and apprehend criminals.
