Another one of my favorite things has to be my yellow lab, “Crosby”. I love animals and I’m even starting to take a liking to my wife’s little, black and tan mini-dachshund, “Jovi”.
Selling a house is definitely stressful on people, but it can also be a time of stress for your animals too. Over the years I have helped numerous clients with their animals during the sale of their homes. Fortunately, I am an animal lover. My wife even calls me the “Dog Whisperer”. I wouldn’t go that far, but I do seem to have a way with most furry kids. This can come in handy in real estate. Just last week I had to reason with a very large Cockatoo to carefully get him back into his cage. I thought I was going to lose a finger but it all worked out. Sometimes I will take a client’s dog for a walk while a house is being shown or just calm down an anxious kenneled pet. I’ve had a number of cases where I’ve made arrangements with an owner to show a house and when we get there, the dog(s) are left in the house and not too happy to see us. I’ve been able to go in and nicely secure the dogs in the yard or garage while my buyers are able to comfortably look at a home.
Call me if you need a broker that can expertly handle the sale of your property and can most likely make friends with your pet too!
If you’ve driven down Twelve Bridges Drive lately, you may have noticed something a little different- hundreds of sheep and goats grazing on the hillside. While this isn’t a new approach by the City, the reasons behind it are interesting.
There are two main reasons the City has chosen to implement managed grazing. The first reason is to control the growth of invasive plant species. Weeds such as star thistle and non-native invasive species such as blackberry bushes are kept from overrunning the fields by this grazing, allowing for greater biodiversity in the area.
The second reason this tactic is being used is to limit the risk and fire hazard that often accompanies these tall grasses. This is especially important given the close proximity of these open spaces to many homes.
This alternative approach brings a new way to prevent fires and preserve the habitat without the use of harmful chemicals, and brings a bit of the agricultural charm and heritage of Lincoln into the City itself.
This is another one of my favorite things about Lincoln-seeing (and hearing) the sheep every spring!
From the moment you walk in the front door, you will feel the peace and privacy that this home has to offer. Nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac in the desirable, gated, golf course community of Catta Verdera, this spacious, one-owner home is impeccably clean and well-maintained. Including a private, interior court yard with lush vegetation and a natural park-like back yard, this home is sure to promote a lower stress level. Enjoy the Koi Pond or take time to sit under the covered patio and watch the variety of birds that like to visit. The “green thumb” in the family will appreciate the fruit trees and grow boxes and also the water-saving landscape. Inside is just as nice! This well thought-out 4bed/3bath home comes in at just under 3000 sf and offers everything you need. Some of the features include a private guest bed and bath, formal living and dining rooms and a bright kitchen with a generous butler’s pantry. Large picture windows in the family room and kitchen nook allow you perfect views of the gorgeous yard. The master bedroom includes unimpeded views of the yard as well as an upgraded bath comprising of a jetted tub, his and her vanities, oversized shower with bench and a large walk-in closet. Other great features include 2 fireplaces, plantation shutters, stainless appliances, tile flooring, cherry cabinets, video security/surveillance and the split 3 car garage.

Last season I had a chance to play with the Sac Fire hockey team. Obviously, I’m not a firefighter and with my Boy Scout background, I’m probably a little bit better at starting fires than putting them out! Our Firefighters in this area are a great group of hard working guys and they play a good brand of no-nonsense hockey. My son and I enjoy playing with them. One of our goaltenders had his mask painted by an artist in Canada and it is sweet! It shows our California flag on one side, a rendering of his Engine at a large fire that made the front page a few years ago and the Cal Fire and Sac Fire logos on the back. Pretty cool Carter! We are all appreciative of the hard work and risks that they take to keep us safe. Thanks! Being able to play a game I love with my son and these great guys is one of my favorite things.
One of the questions that I am asked frequently is “Don’t we have to sort our garbage for recycling?” The answer is “No”, but don’t think we don’t recycle here in Lincoln. A lot of areas have separate bins for plastic, glass, paper etc. but we have the “One Big Bin” program here. You put all your garbage into the green bin that the City provides with service sign-up and then it goes out to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority location on Athens Ave (out past the Casino). At that point, the waste (over 2 million lbs a day) goes through a process of mechanical and manual sorting. It is really quite the process! Some of the schools have field trips out there and the kids come home amazed. One thing I really like about having the “dump” not too far away is that I can load a truck with tree trimmings or garbage from a home we are selling and be out there in about 20 minutes. They do allow the public to dump and it usually costs between about $12 and $20 depending on what and how much you are dumping. They also have a bottle depot there and cardboard recycling. The fact that we live in an area that takes recycling seriously and that it is close enough for me to do dump runs (but not too close to smell or hear) is one of my favorite things!
